They kinda pointed and laughed behind his back. He sat alone at lunch until Summer came. Nobody talked to him, or sat by him. Like when the teacher told somebody to sit by Auggie, they froze up and slowly dragged their book bag across the dirty hardwood floor. Jack Will was busy with his group of friends, So this gave August nobody to "hang out with" Julian called him Dark Sidious. Dark Sidious is a character off of "Star Wars" That fell into Acid or something that burned his face. That is why Julian called August Dark Sidious. This was really mean of Julian, But nobody knew that. People were making fun of Auggie's  Padawan braid. Some people wanted him to put on a mask or something. People knew August as "The ugly duckling" And this hurt his feelings. But his mom keeps calling him "Ordinary" and a ordinary kid doesent look like Auggie. A ordinary kid does NOT get bullied by people because his face looks weird or messed up. I feel REALLY bad for poor, poor August. People ask him why his bangs are so long, and why he is so short. I think he that he thought it was half and half because he liked part of his day and hated the other. He hated the part where Julian made the Darth Sidious comment, and when he thought of that, he probably thought that it was awful. Then he probably thought about lunch, and sitting with Summer, and talking about the Summer Table, and thought that school was wonderful. Then, thinking about how much parts of his day contrasted with each other, and probably didn't know what to say. Then he probably wanted to say five because truly he knew it was half and half. Something that actually interested me was what August's mom said after he told her five. She said to him "That was better than I was expecting!" It made me kind of mad that Auggie's own mom even thought that Auggie wouldn't do good. It made me feel sad for him, that even his mom can't look upon him as an ordinary person who shouldn't be teased by other kids. Of course she doesn't want him to be teased, but the thought that his own mom couldn't trust him to make friends and stand up for himself saddens me. If I was a parent, I would never do such things to my children. It would kill me to do such things to my kids, expecting low of them is just one of the worst things you can do! Children are all over motivation, and if she doesn't motivate Auggie, he might start doing worse, feeling worse, and maybe even hating school. If he hated school, then he may just quit, and I feel like he needs this opportunity. He needs the chance to make him feel welcome among other kids, he needs the chance to be him! And if he is scared away from school by this little comment, I will be mad. Maybe his half and half days will turn to 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, and maybe futuristicly,  10's! If it gets that bad they won't make him go anymore! He will loose his chance to become what he wants become... you need school to get a degree and lead your future life! Pretty much if you have dreams, you need school. No matter what he dreams of becoming, it all starts here, and he needs as much motivation as he can get!
