Making cloth by hand for pants, shirts, socks, bedspreads and etc had always required a lot of skill and time. As the population grew, the more clothes and other goods were needed, and the more and willing people were when it came to buying goods. The cottage industry showed how much people could produce in their homes through spinning and weaving cloth by hand. But it took up way too much time, and the production system couldn't keep up with the growing population demands. Therefore, a series of innovations swept the textile production towards a new factory system, and cotton led the way! From then on, we reach many new inventions and industry's that have started from Europe and made its way across the world. Such as the iron industry, and the creations of railroads, factories, and the steam engine!
