Planning: Drama teacher encouraged students to brainstorm ideas and collaborate on common themes.  Students then worked through many cyles of perform, feedforward, reflect/revise.  Students engaged in warm and cool feedback with peers as well as the drama teacher.

Planning: Music and drama teachers collaborated. We wanted our Culture Night at the Susan B. Anthony Middle School to explore non traditional ideas when we think of culture-the topics below the surface of the cultural iceberg. 
Here's what Arts teachers used to explain to staff their ideas for what the goal of culture night could look like at SBA.

Outcome: These are original pieces written by the student performers...]]> 2018-07-29 04:27:26 UTC https://padlet.com/kmenissian/1lxon40dlpcd/wish/271354926 kmenissian https://padlet.com/kmenissian/1lxon40dlpcd/wish/271355305 Problem: Grade 8 students from Revere, MA believe everything they read!!  It became obvious that the influence of social media and news instantly at our fingertips, the more necessary it seemed to teach the importance of conducting proper research for FACTS.  It seemed a duty to teach these skills in the subject of science.  With standardized curriculum it can be difficult to find opportunities to foster students' natural curiosity for the world around them.  This project allows students to choose any topic, conduct research using three reliable sources and present the information in the method of their choice to small groups for feedforward. 

Goal: for students to research a topic of their choice and teach others about it in a method of their choice

Goal: Work with students to develop a Lit Night that represents them & that they want to attend.
Planning: students pitch plans for the night appeal to their peers, and eventually create & facilitate the event. 
Outcome: Lit Night attendance goes from 10 attendees in 2015 to 100+ in 2017.

Goal: Incorporate more choice into summer reading and allow students Multiple Means of Action & Expression in their reading responses.
Planning: Lit Coach talks with groups of students,  teachers, admin, parents, and surveys whole student body about access to books. Creates new Plan for summer reading, presents it to all stakeholders and refines based on feedback--7 iterations in total!
Outcome: Success still to be determined but have received multiple student products so far!
