I made this recipe, reading the ingredients and directions carefully (made a few changes), and my brother sat down at the table…. Thought he was going to get sick…. And left.

Ooops!! Now it’s a joke between us. The recipe was good though!

I don't care about Spokane in the 1920's." Well. Boy was I wrong! As soon as I warmed up to the characters, I started appreciating their struggle for workers' rights against the mining bosses. The story follows her journey of being ostracized by her the people in her village, taking care of her family, and learning the mysteries of the surrounding forest, which was sometimes called The Thickety.
Review: I read this book because I remember someone mentioning it in elementary school. It was pretty well-written, but I was surprised by how dark some of the themes were and the way it ended.
