like a heavy load" (Hughes, line 8). This line relates to Troy because of the result that his failed dream has on his life. Troy's dream, to become a professional baseball player, failed because he was "too old," and he didn't want to make a move earlier. This dream haunts him and the thought of it never leaves him. So to this day it holds a heavy load on him, that is too heavy to bare.

This motto fits Troy because it is easily his perspective on things. In Fences Troy states "The white man ain’t gonna let you get nowhere with that football noway." Troy tells Cory that no matter how bad he wants it "the white man" won't let it happen. He says the white man because at the time America was very divided. This motto fits in because Troy once wanted to play baseball in the big leagues, but the world wouldn't let him achieve his goal and just crushed his dreams.

A line that relates to Troy is "used to dream of outer space but now they're laughing at our face singing "wake up, you need to make money." This relates because Troy realizes he is now in a world were "you need to make money," and that his dreams are no longer able to be accomplished. The second line I chose was "wish we could turn back time, to the good old days, when our momma sang us to sleep,
but now we're stressed out" This line represents how Troy is out of the good old days and has to deal with the stresses of this life. In fences, after cheating on Rose, Troy states "I'm sorry life been getting to heavy on me and I had to get away from that weight I gotta carry." The stresses of life got to Troy so bad he went against his own family.
