Attraction - is the sensation of liking someone and, in many cases, of being sexually attracted to them. Our level of attraction to the opposite sex has less to do with how we look and more to do with our confidence. It wasn't only physical attraction that drew him to her. Attraction is defined as "the interaction that exists between things or humans that are naturally or unwillingly attracted together." It is the existence of a characteristic by one item that draws another to it.

Attachment is a feeling towards a person, or an object that means a lot to you. This can vary from a favourite toy, pillow, or even a person that you value a lot. Growing attached to something/someone takes a lot ot time, and there are multiple types of styles for every person

Secure Attachment - those who are securely attached tend to have more trust, and are most likely in long term relationships

Anxious Attachment - a form of insecure attachment. The attachment style you were raised with doesn't explain everything about your relationships and who you are as an adult, but understanding it may help explain patterns you notice in relationships.

Avoidant Attachment - Adults with an avoidant-dismissive insecure attachment style are the opposite of those who are ambivalent or anxious-preoccupied. Instead of craving intimacy, they're so wary of closeness they try to avoid emotional connection with others. They'd rather not rely on others, or have others rely on them.

Disorganized Attachment - Disorganized attachment develops from a parent's consistent failure to respond appropriately to their child's distress, or by a parent's inconsistent response to their child's feelings of fear or distress. For example, a child might be distressed to be left with a new babysitter or unfamiliar caregiver.

What is Attachment

In the presence of the attachment figure, attachment can be characterized as a deep and persistent emotional bond between two people in which each desires closeness and feels more secure.

How do you know you are attached?

An emotionally attached person may feel connected to another person based on their personal feelings or emotions for them. A person may feel attached to another after their relationship has ended. Some may have an emotional connection with another person without being in a relationship, but not realize they are falling for someone deeply. Sometimes these emotions may lead to sadness or rejection when one realizes the other doesn’t feel the same way.

Types of attachment

Secure attachment- The security usually stems from having a healthy relationship with parents, where they were allowed to go out and explore the world as children, but also felt safe and protected. In adulthood, this is mirrored in not smothering their partner, and trusting them to lead an independent life — while also knowing when to be honest, intimate, and supportive.

Anxious Attachment - Anxiously attached people become incredibly unhappy and worried about being too much or too little for the person they are dating and take everything incredibly personally. "When they feel unsure of their partner’s feelings and unsafe in their relationship, they often become clingy, demanding or possessive toward their partner," Firestone, who is a clinical psychologist wrote in a blog post.

3. Avoidant attachment-People with an avoidant attachment type completely avoid relationships altogether or keep anyone new they meet at a distance. They may sabotage their blossoming romances out of nowhere because they are scared their new partner will leave them — so they get in there first.
