1. What was the popular thing to wear at this time?
- We wore jeans and bell bottoms and Lots of corduroy. Women I knew wore jumpers and dresses to work and to church. It was a much more formal time but it was beginning to lighten up. A big thing that happened was that Nike shoes came out.
2. What kind of music did you listen to/ who were the popular bands/artists?
- Paul Mc cartney and Elton John were big in the 70's. Linda Ronstadt was one of husband's favorites, There were some songs I liked "You Light Up My Life" "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Around the Ole Oak Tree" and "Tonights the Night." American Bandstand with Dick Clark was a biggie for most ages!!! Diana Ross and the Carpenters were big!!!
3. What sport was popular?
- Football became more popular. Miami dolphins had the perfect season in 1972. No one else has ever had it. Sports like soccer were not popular in the US.
4. What was a popular pastime?

Me and my friends really enjoyed roller skating...Disco dancing...Rubic's Cube, Hula hoops, Roller derby (on Tv), we spent lots of time at home watching TV. We also went to the movies a lot. The Russian River was the place to go if you lived in San Francisco. Most of the Moms stayed home and tried to copy the life of the Brady Bunch and they wore dresses and aprons a lot.
5. What were some popular movies/ TV shows?
- Star Wars became a big hit!!! We watched a lot of TV because all the great shows were on then. Bewitched, Brady Bunch, Charlie's Angels (my husband loved this as well.) 6 Million Dollar Man, Love boat Lassie, Hawaii Five O. were some of the best! Star Wars and Rocky, Jaws, American Graffiti,Grease, Godfather, Rocky Horror were some of the best movies. Clint Eastwood and Paul Newman were the go to stars. Faye Dunaway, Meryl Streep were some of the women.
6. What were some popular books/ and or magazines?
- Steven King's books, the Shining, Carrie, Salem's Lot became popular, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", "Thorn Birds, Princess Bride, the World According to Garp. The vampire by Ann Rice came out. Roots was big book and movie.

Rolling Stones magazine was a biggie, Vogue, Esquire, People were other popular magazines!
7. Is there anything that you specifically remember about the 70's that is a lot different now?
- I spent a lot of time being the good little housewife as portrayed in the Brady Bunch.we all wanted to have a family like that. Drugs and sex were never talk about. We had land lines for phones ...social media did not exist. We read the newspaper or listened to the news on the TV. For those of us who had grown in San Francisco, it was a big shock when the mayor, and one of the supervisors were killed . Dan White killed them. It was something we talked about for days. There was no reality TV...everything was nice and peaceful and loving.

He wrote and produced many songs about love which grabbed the attention of the women in this time period. Bernie taupin was the man who helped John kickstart his career. This duo was like a machine and they just kept writing and producing songs. Not only did this duo just write for John but for other famous pop artists as well, such as; Roger Cook and Lulu.

The crazy record of the 1972 Miami Dolphins when they became the first team in National Football League history to go through an entire season undefeated and untied. The 1972 season was legendary coach Don Shula's third with the Dolphins. Under his strict no-nonsense approach, the young Dolphins team gelled into a cohesive unit. Though the team featured players, like Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka (left), Larry Little, Bob Griese, Jim Langer and Paul Warfield - all Hall of Famers - it was often contributions from the lesser-knowns that made the difference. In fact, the team featured a defense that, although very good, lacked "star-power." Capitalizing on their anonymity, they accepted the nickname the "No-Name Defense." Eventually, even the "No-Names" of defensive linemen Manny Fernandez and Bill Stanfill became familiar names.
