The future of user-generated content (UGC) is that it will become the most powerful tool brands have to rise above an increasingly noisy environment. Brands will learn how to use user-generated content (as they have learned to use every other marketing/advertising tool over the years), but rather than corrupting UGC, it will result in more transparency and better understanding between customers and brands.

Let me give you an example. So far, many brands (TOMs, Coca-Cola, GAP, and others) and celebrities (like Beyonce) have used user-generated content as a way to engage with and connect with their audience. But in the future, brands will understand that simply using this UGC isn’t enough - they need to learn how to tap into the power of it.

User-generated content is unique because it is by the people, for the people, and the people will quickly become aware of fake, brand-driven UGC campaigns. In order for brands and consumers to work successfully with UGC, transparency is key.

Compare traditional radio listening with listening to a station via a mobile app. How are they different?

- The increase in popularity of the Internet has changed the way people act and the way they access different types of services. It's the same thing for the radio.

Using traditional radio, which limits its frequency variation as well as the distance from the transmission antenna, you may have experienced the signal fading until it is no longer possible to follow its contents, because you have gone too far from the transmission, leaving the territory of the stations.

The Internet has provided a new way to make and listen to radio, which we call online radio. It allows listeners access to music and programming by simply clicking from anywhere they have an Internet connection.
