I like this resource as there are so many options and the search bar allows a search to be filtered through key and tempo (which was very useful for my electronic composition made up almost entirely from manipulated samples)

I love the funky rhythm of the drums in the intro of this classic Little Feat tune. Me and Jake listened to them to inspire the drum section for the rocky/blues tune I wrote over the weekend.

Janis Joplin has always been a huge influence for me. I love the harshness of her voice (which is also an influence). However, the 3/4 rhythm heavily inspired my track Places to go.

I always loved the way Jimi Hendrix's spoken voice sounded on the breakdown of If 6 was 9, so I found some old interview clips to insert to an ambient intro.

As well as watching YouTube tutorials for more complexed guitar parts, I mostly look for accurate chords from Ultimate guitar and build on that (as well as taking inspiration on my own chord progressions)

I often use this resource to combat my lack of music theory knowledge. It is extremely useful when I get stuck in boring chord progressions, as the tool helps you to predict chord compatability. I've been using this more often recently, because I have been trying to write more jazzy sounding progressions.

Joan Armatrading

Joan Armatrading is one of my biggest inspirations. Her album Show some emotion is exquisite. I aim to get my hands on the twelve string guitar to add in her style to one of my acoustic tracks. I also love her execution of impressive vocal range. She is a legend.

There is all sorts in here. I have quite a broad music taste. There are some electronic tunes in here from jungle to hardcore psytrance which I will take inspiration from for future tracks. There are also drum sections and jazzy chord progressions that I really like, for example in If I Had You by Etta James
