         <description><![CDATA[<div>Like Columbus, John Cabot (a.k.a. Giovanni Caboto) was an Italian navigator. Cabot believed that if he sailed west at a higher latitude, he would find a faster route to Asia. In 1497, he sailed west from England hoping to achieve his goal.</div>]]></description>
