         <title>Ban-doh</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Ban-doh is a unique event in Taiwan. It takes place on the street. It is like a banquet. People like to hold a banquet to celebrate elder’s birthdays, weddings, and housewarming parties. Families and friends are all welcome to join it.</div><div>&nbsp; There are a lot of round tables which are set in the tent on the roadside. Each table is served with various dishes. The host would prepare containers for guests to pack up the leftovers and take them home.</div><div>&nbsp; People have changed the place to celebrate these days. They celebrate in the restaurant. The traditional banquet have gradually disappeared. Although some aspects of the ban-doh have changed in modern times, the spirit of gathering together to have fun has always remained.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When we think of summer, shaved ice comes to our mind!&nbsp;<br>Shaved ice is one of Taiwan’s famous desserts, it is also one of Taiwan’s historic desserts, it has been popular in Taiwan for many years.&nbsp;<br>In Taiwan, shaved ice has a lot of flavors, like brown sugar, condensed milk, or different kinds of syrups. It is also has&nbsp; different kinds of toppings, like beans, jelly, tapioca, jam, fruits… you can choose whatever you want.&nbsp;<br>If you want to beat the heat, shaved ice is your best choice!You can find it everywhere in Taiwan. Shaved ice is not only delicious but also cheap, it just costs you a few coins, anyone will fall in love with shaved ice after eating it. Isn’t it attractive?&nbsp;<br>I think you will like shaved ice, too. Let’s give it a try!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In terms of density of convenience stores in the world, Taiwan occupies the second place. Compared to South Korea, which is the first place, and Japan, which is the third place, Taiwan, which has an area of only 36,193 square kilometers, can be second. Taiwan is quite a&nbsp; modern and highly convenient country. The first Convenience store in Taiwan was introduced in 1979 by Taiwan's Uni-President. They usually have the characteristics of a chain system, 24-hour operation, small area, and open-shelf. Convenience stores in Taiwan have 7-eleven, FamilyMart, Ok, Hi-Life, etc.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Many additional service products are even pioneers in Taiwan, such as booking tickets with multimedia machines, fresh ground coffee, and stay at the passenger service center on the main traffic road. By this token, convenience stores are a very user-friendly service.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>However, the human beings are animals with emotions. Many franchisees have set up Facebook fan groups to solicitous for consumers and neighbors condition. Regardless of pre-order, buy-in, the considerate service can be seen from the management strategy. Supermarkets are still maintains the spirit of grocery store.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Sugar Gourd</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are many versions about the historical roots of one of Taiwan's famous snacks, "sugar gourd".<br><br></div><div>One of them originated in the Song Dynasty. Southern Song Guangzong was looking for cures for his concubine. A doctor prescribed a recipe for boiled Red Hawthorn in rock sugar water. Later, this recipe was spread among the people to form sugar gourd.<br><br></div><div>People usually used hawthorn to make sugar gourd before, but now we Taiwanese use local fruits such as Dahu strawberry and cherry tomatoes to make them. These sugar gourds made from other fruits instead of hawthorn present our culture of mixing local ingredients to innovate delights.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>The formation of night markets is due to convenient transportation, wide grounds, and the gathered people. For example,  in 1908, a night market was set up in front of the  Cijin Tianhou Temple&#39;s open space. Night markets represent Taiwanese food culture. Also,  the history and life of the place. The reason that people like to go to the night market is not just for delicious food. More importantly, the fun, lively environment can inspire people.There are different characteristics of the Taiwanese night market. There are a lot of Taiwanese snacks, such as stinky tofu, oyster omelet, and bubble milk tea. All kinds of them are delicious and cheap. Furthermore, night markets are popular in almost every city, and it&#39;s also a place that visitors must go to when they visit Taiwan.</title>

You can see stinky tofu in any night markets or street vendors, and there are always a lot of people queuing for it. Stinky tofu is a very special food, it smells bad, but actually it tastes delicious. There are many different ways to eat stinky tofu. In fact, we often deep fry it, and we serve it with Taiwanese kimchi frequently.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;Because of the population migration, stinky tofu was brought from China. &nbsp;</div><div>It combines with Taiwan's authentic taste, so it is listed as a famous food in Taiwan. &nbsp;</div><div>Demonstrate the characteristics of cultural integration in food. Taiwanese love to eat stinky tofu very much, and even few people reject it. But for foreigners, it may be a big challenge because of its strong smell. Stinky tofu is a cultural fusion.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Ghost Festival is an important day in Taiwan. It’s in the 7th month of the lunar calendar. On this occasion, people burn ghost money. Buring ghost money is an action to give the ghosts cash that they can pay for the object they bought in the underworld. Placeing rice, meat, vegetables and some fruits on the table stands for inviting spirits enjoy the big meal.<br>Taiwanese hold the belief that this behavior can help deceased people which stayed in real world move on to the other world. In some places,there is a special activity-搶孤.The participants climb a  rod to the food which was hung on pillars. The first one who  reaches the presents is a symbol of praying for good luck in next year.<br><br></div>]]></description>
