Kronos was destined to be defeated by his own child therefore he was led to eating his own children. Every child that came out of the womb of Rheia was eaten. Rheia felt great grief so she looked for her parents and conceived a plan with them. They hid Zeus from Kronos. Rheia was sent to Lyetos in Krete to give birth to Zeus. Zeus was given to Gaia to be taken to Lyktos. Zeus was then taken care of and nourished in a cave. Kronos was given a stone that he thought was Zeus to swallow. He ate the stone not knowing that it was not Zeus. Once Zeus had grown, he took down Kronos and made him vomit out the children he had eaten.
