- El presidente Sebastián Piñera anunció que el país no seria el anfitrión de las reuniones de la APEC ni la Conferencia de Cambio Climático COP-25.
- Esto fue un duro golpe a la imagen y la política exterior de Chile.
- El ámbito económico se vio afectado, dejando a cientos de miles de trabajadores desempleados ademas de la paralización de muchos servicios públicos y comercios.
