From my view, Marianne North did the best contribution to society as she offered a work of art. In contrast with Nellie, who was envolved in a competition which I see as a curious anecdote rather than a contribution to society, the ouvre of Marrianne is outstanding and could expand the knowledge around botany from an artistic view.

From my point view well, I think that both readings show a great contribution they made to society. In the first reading, Marianne was able to paint 1000 oil paintings of each flower she found in each country she went to and it was a discovery of many unusual flowers that we know now. Nellie caught the attention of many people when she traveled the world with only 72 days. A million people waited for her to return from her trip so they could receive her.
