For example, I could have students vote on what kind of review activity we are going to do (Quizizz, Gimkit, trashcan basketball, white boards, etc.) or even let different groups of students do different review activities at the same time. Examples include infection control project where they are given the choice of 10 diffeerent diagnosis they can choose from only stipulation they must include Diagnosis, Causative Agent, Mode of Transmission, Isolation required and Treatment.  This helps them learn a variety of infection control isolation for diferent disease processes.  I am excite to use more of an exit ticket form to get input into assignments for students to learn from them what works best in their learning process.

This gives students the opportunity to choose while still getting the work that needs to be completed done! I think I have been afraid to use more choice in the past because it takes more planning and work up front, but when you get it ready for the students, it is easier in the long run! I have seen that if students have choice, they take more ownership and enjoy learning more. There are assignments that are must do and ones that are may do. There is chose in content, process and pace. I hope to create a few starter lessons over the summer to begin next fall. Another idea that was presented from one of the videos was having choice in sign-ups for extra help sessions. I will use this feature next month for reviewing for the 8th grade science EOG. My biggest transition was the fact that my principle retired and I have a new administrator for the first time ever (13 yrs). What I have learned is I was stale because no one was bringing in new ideas to us. One of the first things our new administrator taught us was about student choice and voice. When my Spanish students were learning preterite verbs we did a large choice board with reading/writing and speaking/listening activities that would activate the same mastery criteria while also making sure learning modality was honored. We also had face to face learners in the building. After researching and working with other librarians in the county we came up with choice boards for our virtual students. The boards were done monthly and they could choose one activity a week to complete, but had the option to do more if they wanted. Choice boards not only had reading involved, but coding activities, makerspace activities, and other web-based or hands on activities. These boards were also used in the face to face classes if needed. As a High School Special Education teacher I teach students English with a variety of disabilities. I would start out in the morning with a writing prompt. This gave the students  an opportunity to express their opinion about the topic. Students had to make choices about how they wanted to review for a test using quizlet, quizizz or the basketball  waste basket game. I plan to implement Choice boards, flip grid and anchor charts.
