I find this phobia interesting because things of huge nature do not scare me personally so trying to see how someone may fear that is difficult but I wanted to do this phobia not only because I don't understand it but because I know how to understand it and show it in work for example having something of pure hugeness in front of someone and they are tiny compared to that strikes some fear and that is what I want to portray with this phobia.

The fear of the dark is something that all children may of had growing up and for some people that fear never goes. The fear isn't necessarily about the darkness it's what's in the darkness that's strikes fear in people, me myself is sometimes scared of what could lurk in the dark. What I want to do with this phobia is to create what lurks in the dark and express the fear of the darkness.

The fear of dolls is more common than most would think which is surprising considering most young girls have owned a doll before. In my opinion the reason for the fear is due to the human but not human looks of the dolls, its uncanny and quite disturbing sometimes. I want to make something that can show the spookiness of dolls and also show fear, an example of this could be the Annabelle doll or any other popular scary dolls from movies.

The differences between supernatural and paranormal can be a fine line although in my opinion the supernatural is super experiences that are unexplainable and not natural to occur on earth. Therefore showing this in work would be a challenge and i wanted to do something hard for myself to show my skills. One way i could do a piece for supernatural things could be someone showing unexplainable power or something floating in the sky.

The paranormal has been around for many years with people believing and not believing where there is many evidence people tend to believe that it is all fake and "ghosts" or "poltergeists" do not exist. Personally I think the paranormal is real due to my own experiences and I want to show these experiences with my work for example one time I was in bed and could feel something watching me my eyes where closed so i couldn't see anything and was hesitant to open my eyes although I did and when i did I saw an eye looking at me, I want to share that experience through my work and not only show how it looked but how it felt too.

This theme is different from something I would usually do therefore to challenge myself i wanted to attempt it. I was thinking if i used clay i could create animal hybrids which i think would look great. I would create one part of one animal and another of another one and merge them creating a hybrid after i could match colours too making them completely unique.

Instead of normal animal creatures i thought i could also try mythical creature hybrids which seem cooler and more appealing to the eye, these hybrids are more commonly known making it easier for people to recognise my work when done. The story is the same i would use clay to create the hybrids and then use colour after.

These creatures are legends or myths and are terrifying. I thought it would be interesting to portray them, also with clay. I would like to use resin for some of my work although that's materials I'm not sure if collage has. Even without it I could still make something amazing. Personally I find myths of creatures very interesting because they have many stories and "sightings" although have never been proven to be real.

Fear of the dark presented with a monster with glowing red eyes and a long hand creeping out of the dark. I presented the mostly in this way because it strikes fear I thought that If too much of the monster was seen then it wouldn't have to same terrifying effect. I then made the hand come out of the light because it also is scary, if you can imagine if you experienced that it would be horrific and that's what I want to portray.

I decided to do try something else with nyctophobia because I wanted different ways to express it as a fear. My goal with this piece was to create a face and within it have scary eyes to simulate what I feel in the dark, because I feel eyes on me. I found that i could have done this better when creating the other versions.

For a simple change I put the same eyes as a background making the face pop more as a silhouette instead of an actual face which acts like a shadow and in my opinion makes the illustration look more scary although it is lacking the key aspect of which the phobia's definition is and to show what that is I need to make the face show fear and despair.

I reorganised the whole face making sure to grasp the despair of what people that have nyctophobia feel when in the dark. I had the mouth open because it shows the scream of which is horrific and wide. I also reshaped the face to make it more accurate to a real face.

Using the despair face I also used the background with the evil eyes to again create the silhouette effect which also creates another effect of being trapped in the darkness while it could also be depicted as becoming your phobia and becoming darkness.

The fear of holes is a strange fear yet in my experience this illustration I created makes me feel physically sick. I created it using the shapes on adobe illustrator and used 3 different circles for the holes an outline circle and a dark circle for the actual hole then a small yellow circle for the icky effect, after doing that i thought it looked off and didn't have the effect i wanted it to therefore i played around with the 3d effect and made it so the holes have depth and roundness to them which creates the sickening effect i wanted it to.

The rendering of the holes took a long time especially because there were so many of them. I wanted to have lots of the holes because i thought it would make the illustration worse to look at and be even more sickly although it did not have that effect and just made it less sickly.

I gave an effort to capture the fear of the deep ocean by creating a huge monster to come up to the boat making it look minuscule. To further expand on this phobia I may have to use clay to create the boat and also to create the monster. I want to do that because it is something new and I want to try something else especially to expand my work to the best it can be.

Using the typing tool i created the word swirly then after doing that i drew around the word doing swirls with the pen tool after doing all of that i used the object bar then intertwine effect to merge the red pen and word together. I wanted to experiment with this effect because it may be useful to me to use in my project and even though i haven't used it yet i may still have a go at it to incorporate it in my work.

For this experiment I used the pattern tool, using an illustration I created I then used the tool to make my own pattern on the colour palette that I could use on any shape I wanted, I chose a star to demonstrate. This effect is very useful and I have already used it for expressing nyctophobia.

Firstly i created a cube with clay then using a round tool I hit holes into the clay in a formation which is random yet proper for the purpose of trypophobia. After putting the holes into the cube I used beads to simulate the icky weird balls in the holes and in my opinion it made the right effect. After doing all of that I then wanted to further improve on the cube so taking a toothbrush I hit all around the cube making a rocky effect for realism.

This is another trypophobia model done in clay which I was not happy with at first although looking back I am pleased with my result not only because it looks uneasy but because it also looks naturally formed and real. I did this by rolling out some clay then using a cutting tool to cut out the holes myself this was difficult because every hole was different making me think that it may not have the right effect which it needed to have although it does indeed give me a sickness feeling which is great.

I wanted to create a monster hand for nyctophobia, because implementing clay and illustration together is something new for me and I want to show how talented I can be therefore mixing materials together shows how creative I can be. I made the hand by first making the wrist and shaping that using my finger then after I made the palm shaping that also and using my own hand as inspiration for the piece after doing that I made each of the three fingers having an index a middle and also a thumb. Details is what made this piece because I made the details the details of what a human hand has which makes for the effect of unease. I used this sculpture in my work which had a terrifying feeling to it.

This experiment was to express the fear of clowns and although you can recognise the fact that it is indeed a clown you cannot really feel the fear of that fact. In my opinion this would only be scary to a child and I want my illustrations to be scary to teens at the least. One way i improved on this was to firstly improve on my adobe illustrator skills by using different techniques therefore I did exactly that and used more effects with the effect bar. On good thing about this experiment is the shadows i added which created depth and really adds to the illustration.

Claustrophobia is easy to depict although figuring out which way to depict it is difficult to find out not only because on illustrator it is hard to do perspective but also because my skills of depicting people is not great so if I really want to improve I'll have to practice making people on illustrator. I created this illustration by taking a png of a brick wall from the internet and adding that to the top and bottom of the illustration then I made the person with different shapes and colours after that I put it inside the hole in the brick adding a layer of darkness to express how he is trapped and his hand is edging out showing his effort to escape.

There is something uneasy about the things Tim burton creates in everything he makes it makes me uncomfortable and feel strange, I want to harness that and try to make the feeling in my work too. It could be the dull colours and the wide eyes or the exaggerated expressions of there faces or the elongated bodies maybe it's the sharpness of things, all the pointy things like clothing and fingers and teeth. Or the unnatural natural things for example they look real but could not exist in real life but if it did it would be terrifying. What I'm taking from my experience of looking at Tim burtons work is that not everything has to look by what human nature deems normal, work can be strange and long and pointy. In my work I want to use these things to create work like Tim burton what he does is perfect for what I want to do.

Using the clay sculptures I made I took photographs of them and removed the backgrounds from them too after that I put them together on a black and grey gradient to show the darkness of which sparks people's nyctophobia. I wanted to experiment and mix two phobias because I felt that it would have more of an effect and i wouldn't need to do lots of final products i could have maybe even one or two final products with many different phobias in them, the key is not to do too much and add only what needs to be shown for it to work as expressing the phobia.

To make my experiment more realistic I wanted to add some details to make things pop out more therefore i changed the texture of the eyes and added spikes to the tongue for a scary look. People see sharp things and do link that to fear because of how it could hurt you.

Creating this clown was difficult because I wanted it to look realistic. The eyes were difficult to do so instead of eyes I did a censor bar instead for a weird looking effect it looks like something you would see if your computer got hacked and a image popped up.

This deep sea creature I made has an actual size which is absolutely huge and would be terrifying to experience in real life. I made it using clay and firstly I made the body and after I hit a hole to make the mouth after that I put some empty eyes and made teeth to add on. I wanted it to be scary because before the details it could be looked at as cute and then after it looks disgusting and scary. I'm going to use this clay sculpture in some illustrator work I will do.

I created this eye to use for a deep sea monster and I wanted to depict it as filling the sea and being at almost surface level. I made many different versions of this as you can see and I may use them all in different illustrations although my favourite one is the right middle eye because it looks like an eye and also has details that are not too much and look right with the eye. I used many tools to sculpt this eye because I had to smooth out everything and then make holes and small details too.

I wanted to experiment with light and how to make light when lighting strikes, for my first time I think it went well all i needed to to was change the opacity of some things and then use a blur for a light effect. There are improvements that can and will be made over time but for an experiment this is fine. Although it doesn't capture the scary nature of lighting so therefore I will have to improve on top of that.

I used the clay eye sculpture I made as the background so that i could use that to show the extent of how huge the sea beast is and then after I made it the background i added a layer of blue with the opacity turned down to give it the effect of water to further extend the effect of water i used a different blue colour for small waves. Lastly i made a boat with a man on it which then solidified the fact of how huge the monster is.

This creation of this monster was developed using a short story description of a monster from a fresh unique story I made myself with chat gbt. These pictures are a the small changes I made to get towards the final model ready for pictures.
