In this work of literature, a totalitarian regime is expressed by showing what aspects he government has so much control over the citizens living under their influence. For example, books are burned because they are thought to provoke dangerous thoughts. The government wants to make sure nobody is thinking of any ideas on how to diminish their power. Another example would be that education is seen as a matter of unimportance therefore basic subjects like history, English, and languages are dropped. This is so people will be " Happy" in the and be less likely to pose a threat. They achieve this by having firefighters burn books and brainwashing citizens with television and radio shows. Also by showing they are threat to those who disobey. Ray Bradbury uses dystopian elements like propaganda, crime , and overall the downside of living in a distopian society. He make sure to emphasize that death in Guy Montags society is the norm. Teens get run over by cars and or shot. Another main element would be the propaganda on the television shown to people. Propaganda is meant to encourage citizens to blindly follow the government without asking questions. It's crazy to think that this novel isn't impossible!
