A Glossopteris was a tree/shrub. Fossils of that plant have been found in Africa, Antarctica, India, South America, and Australia. These continents are far apart, according to map now.

SOURCES: https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/Plate-Tectonics/Chap1-Pioneers-of-Plate-Tectonics/Alfred-Wegener/Fossil-Evidence-from-the-Southern-Hemisphere

https://www.eartheclipse.com/geology/theory-of-continental-drift-causes-and-evidence.html

When iron containing rocks are formed (in sediment or in solidified volcanic lava) they may become magnetized, so creating a record of which way the field was pointing. By comparing these patterns in rocks from different continents we can work out which rocks were formed at the same time. This old magnetism is called paleomagnetism. Study of it was vital in establishing the theory of continental drift.

Why are each of these good pieces of evidence for continental drift?

These are both good pieces of continental drift because Mesosourus could not swim that far and the ocean is not fresh water so the continents must have been connected at some point for them to be able to be in both places. Also the seeds of a Glossopteris could not have been lifted from the wind and carried to the different continents, without them being closer together.

You will notice that mesosaurus is found in the southern parts of Africa and the Americas if you look at the map befroe the continents shifted apart.

SOURCE: https://www.eartheclipse.com/geology/theory-of-continental-drift-causes-and-evidence.html
