Wear appropriate clothes: If you had worn shorts or sleeveless shirts, you would have gotten bitten by insects, also remember to wear appropriate shoes, like boots so you wouldn't trip.

Bring enough water and food: If you forgot your food, you could become dehydrated or weak in a matter of days if you got lost.

Avoid touching unknown plants and animals: If you had touched or worse eaten something poisonous, you might have gotten sick (or discovered your inner survival instincts the hard way, maybe you'll become spiderman /jk).

Carry a first-aid kit: If you had one, you would be prepared for small injuries or insect bites. (If you hurt yourself badly... well, you’d be doomed.)

Know emergency contacts and signals: If something bad happened, you could call for help or signal for rescue.

Travel with a guide or in a group: If you had gone alone, you would have been in more danger and you'd probably get lost...unless your guide’s name was Karl. In that case, you’d be better off on your own.
