To support struggling learners, I’d pair this with visuals or counters they can move for each sound. For advanced students, I’d challenge them to create their own word segmentations.

This fun spring phonics game allows students to practice their phonics skills while playing a fun game. It is perfect for intervention and small group. The rules are simple, sound out the word, move down the game board. The student who finishes all the words correctly first, wins the game. Teacher can observe and correct students who mess up by having them go back one or start over. To support students who need more help, I’d provide picture cues. For those who are ahead, I’d add a challenge—maybe they have to use the word in a sentence before moving forward.

This activity is a great idea for you to use in your classroom when going over vocabulary words. It allows students to practice tracing while memorizing the word. Using the picture also allows students to visually remember what the word is. For kids who need extra support, I’d let them start with just the picture before adding the word. More advanced students could use the word in a sentence or write a short story with their new words.

This reading fluency set allows teachers to practice fluency with their students using specific words. Students read each line until they perfect the whole sentence. They will then practice writing the sentence and reading it to themselves. For struggling readers, I’d give sentence strips with pictures. More advanced readers could time themselves and try to improve their speed and accuracy.
