1. There are a lot of measures put in place to ensure pedestrians' safety (e.g. school zones, where drivers are not allowed to exceed speed limits near schools + if you are an elderly person who requires more time to cross a pedestrian crossing, you can tap your EZ-Link card against a special reader installed on the traffic light poles)

2. The government takes many measures to raise road safety awareness in Singapore. Firstly, some primary schools send students to the Road Safety Park at East Coast Park to learn more about road safety and experience firsthand how it feels like to be a cyclist, driver or  pedestrian. Furthermore, children have been taught to raise their hands when they cross the road since kindergarten, which is a good road safety habit.

3. Often, road accidents are due to the irresponsibility of pedestrians themselves. For example, there are some places where a lot of people jaywalk, such as near my home. I believe that in Singapore, public transport is both affordable and efficient. The government has also encouraged commuters to use public transport instead of buying private vehicles like cars. This can be seen from how the government has restricted the number of COEs being issued per year.

Since Singapore has different modes of public transportation, including buses and the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) that enable Singaporeans to travel anywhere at low cost, private cars are arguably redundant in Singapore. Thus, it is not unreasonable to conclude that for many Singaporeans who buy cars, their motive is at least partly to show off their higher socioeconomic status to others.

However, I do acknowledge that there are some exceptions/there are cases where people have a genuine need to own private cars. This make travelling around Singapore very efficient. Although our transport system is not the best in the world as compared to the bullet trains in Japan, which I blame on the scarcity of land here, it is still very much up to standard in terms of efficiency, speed, comfort and cleanliness.

Having said that, I still think that Singapore's transport system has room for improvement. There are still too many train delays and breakdowns due to faulty infrastructure, while buses are often trapped in traffic jams especially during peak hours. Some roads don't have dedicated bus lanes so this makes some rides worse than others. From my experience, I have to contend with the perennial lack of seating and personal space when it comes to travelling on public transport. I dislike having to jostle with the overwhelming number of passengers nearly every morning.

Nonetheless, I know that these issues are trivial when compared to the number of advantages that Singapore's transport system has. Radio - weather (Too old-fashioned to be considered "technology"!)
ERP - helps to reduce traffic congestion
Applications on phones - provide information about traffic accidents
