Through those challenges Odysseus has shown many heroic traits like intelligence, leadership, and bravery. Bravery was shown when he tried to stab the cyclops to help save his men "Drawing the sharp sword from my hip I went along his flank to stab him where the midriff holds the liver" (Homer Line 244-46).  Leadership was shown in the Siren episode when Odysseus gave a speech to his men to encourage them "The crew being now silent before me, I addressed them, sore at heart" (Homer Line 684-85). Intelligence has been shown multiple times through this story like when Odysseus thought of the plan to stab Polyphemus in the eye "Whose hand could bear to thrust
and grind that spike in Cyclops’ eye, when mild sleep had mastered him" (Homer Line 280-81). As well as when Penelope tested the Suitors with Odysseus' bow and Odysseus played along and showed his wife that it was him "Odysseus in one motion strung the bow.
