Rhetoric of The Creepy Caretaker/Guardian

The rhetorical strategies used to draw the audience in are pathos and logos. In Nancy Drew, they used heavy levels of pathos to draw the viewers in. Throughout the movie, they add in background music, lighting changes, and body language to really show you what is going on from an emotional side. The movie uses logos to cause the reader to think that the protagonist is utterly helpless, but then the guardian swoops in and saves the day. This strategy of preparing for defeat, but being pleasantly surprised is extremely prevalent and effective for convincing the audience who the guardian is.
