         <description><![CDATA[<div>Uses the hardware (such as the network card) to convert binary information into raw data, this could be in the form of an electrical, light or radio signal. This depends on the data carrier and the physical components of the network. This is then converted back into binary by the receiving network card for the computer to process. Raw data is typically represented by varying voltages. <br><br>Some of the hardware in this layer may include:<br>-Network Repeaters<br>-Network Hubs or Switches<br>-Modems<br>-Network Interface Controllers</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Provides a node-to-node data transfer which detects and possibly corrects errors that might have arisen in the physical layer. Also, it defines a protocol to establish and terminate a connection between two physically connected devices.&nbsp;<br><br>IEEE 802 divides data into two sub-layers:<br><br>Media Access Control (MAC) Layer Which is responsible for controlling how devices I a network gain access to medium and permissions to transmit it.&nbsp;<br>Logical Link Control (LLC) layer this is responsible for identifying Network layer protocols and then encapsulating them and controls error checking and frame synchronisation.</div>]]></description>
