    1.        Da vor Herre og mester Jesus Kristus sagde: ”Gør bod” osv., ville han, at hele de troendes liv skulle være en bod. 
 2.        Disse ord kan ikke forstås om bodens sakramente, dvs. om bekendelsens og fyldestgørelsens sakramente, som forvaltes ved præsternes embede. 
 3.        Dog sigter det heller ikke blot til den indre bod. Nej, den indre bod er ikke noget, hvis ikke man i det ydre udøver forskellige former for kødets dødelse. 
 4.        Straffen forbliver derfor, så længe hadet til én selv forbliver (Det er det, der er den sande indre bod). Den forbliver altså indtil man indgår i Himmeriget.
