No, we are NOT selling student data. We are providing universities with categorizations that then allows those universities to contact students through an app -- which we manage.

We’re trying to build a connection between where students are and post-secondary institutions. In order to do this, HEs need information on students. Colleges want to find your kids, if they don’t know where to look then this is a great way for them to be found. We don’t share PII with colleges, it’s up to the student to share with the institution.

Students have the opportunity to connect with colleges (they have control), they decide whether or not to connect with colleges not the other way around; we are not directly providing info to colleges

There is a two step process: they choose to provide their phone number and then they have to click link and opt-in. They have the option to opt out. Anything that relates to CB informing students of information is not considered as PII (in relation to law in NY specifically).

No - we are creating a safe and secure way for students to connect with colleges. The student is in control of what they share - we share no-PII.

That statement is valid for search bc we license that info. But for this, students are in control. We are saying students are interested and it’s about student control and they choose what and if to share if anything.

No, we are not selling student data. By opting into Big Future School and Connections students are choosing to engage with higher ed institutions. Students get to choose what level they want to engage with higher ed institutions.

How does this work; what benefits does it actually bring; what institutions are involved; what do students need to do- have heard these because they have not actually gone through the process yet (last year), but now this year we know what opt-in looks like during readiness checks and what data will look like to districts. We should be able to address these better now.

We are not sharing the students number with anyone - we are meeting them where they are… Students use cell phones for everything and we’re using the platform they’re most comfortable using

Students might connect with colleges they have never heard of and may not know about which might be the best fit for them; Low-income students might not have as many advocates as other students and this might be a way to self-advocate

Yes, a mobile number is considered PII, but the important part is what we do with that information. We will only use the mobile number students provide during exam setup to prompt them to download and authenticate the BigFuture School app, and to alert them when their scores are available. Mobile numbers collected for BigFuture School will NOT be used for any other purpose. Providing this information is always optional.

Opportunity for those students to start to examine if there are ways they can improve their performance; for educators, they can see if students opt in and may be able to see a student who opted in and is low performing but does have desire to seek more info.

A lot of these students don't see themselves as college students, this helps!

Students have the opportunity to connect with schools that they maybe haven't heard of and it gives low performing students the chance to be a part of the college process that they typically feel left out of. Students can also explore careers.
