Ethnicity-Refers the nationality,  regional culture, ancestry, and language of a certain group. Ethnicity is not the same as race. 1/28/18

Social Class- Identifies people based on they social economic status. There are three different classes. 2/5/18
Gender- The biological means of a person (male or female). People can also identify what gender they prefer even if they were born the opposite sex. 2/5/18
Sexual Orientation-
Social Justice- Fair distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges to a society. 3/27/18
Race-  a group of people who are characterized by their physical characteristics. 3/27/18
Diversity- The uniqueness that makes up a person. Varies from race, ethnicity, culture, language...etc 3/27/18
Racism- actions directed against someone based on their race in a negative way. 3/27/18
Institutional Racism- Form of racism by individuals or groups governed by behavioral norms that support racist thinking and activity. 3/27/18

Explanation Paragraph:

I chose one word, equal. I felt that this went really well with the bumper sticker that I chose because it shows the male and female gender symbol on a scale. This scale is not leaning towards either symbol. The weight is split equally. This is very important to remember for the future when I am an educator. One reason the immigrants were treated so poorly was because Americans thought they were coming to take good jobs away from American citizens. (Ten Myths About Immigration) This was not the case for immigrants. They wanted to start a new life. They would have taken any available job that wold help them. They were not aiming to take current US citizens jobs. The Identity Identification made me take a step back and look at who I am as a person. When completing the diversity wheel, I was not shocked or surprised at what I wrote down to identify myself as. I am a 19-year-old white female. I am clean and organized, I am not married and I do not have any children.  I am a college student and currently live in Evansville Indiana. These were all facts that I know and get reminded of every day. When doing the Identity Hierarchy, I was more surprised at what I had to say. My main point was that I am college age. I stand out more so than others because I am a collegiate athlete. Because of this I am always on the go so I would consider myself healthy and able to manage my time accordingly.
