This quote is an example of prejudice because the slaves are getting branded. They are getting treated like they are animals.

This quote is hope because of how Amari was encouraging to the people around her to stay strong and push through. After Amari heard this it helped her survive all the conflicts and it helped her reach her end goal which was freedom.

This quote shows family because how Amari told Tidbit that she was his mama. It is also a big responsibility for Amari to take a child that wasn't even her's. This is an example because of the sacrifice and love that families adapt.
