<title>In my departmentalized classroom, students are writing to show their understanding of science concepts. Writing in math to explain thinking is a really, really hard metacognitive skill, even for 5th graders. I would like to have students do more writing in my classroom, but there always is an issue of time. They are slow, slow writers and many are intimidated by writing.</title>

<title>Students holding a pencil correctly, writing within the lines, forming the letters correctly and writing and illustrating their thoughts. I expect my students to have fun while expressing their thoughts and/or ideas in a creative way. When learning about nonfiction, writing gives me the opportunity to check for understanding and having the ability to create sentences structure. </title>

<title>I LOVE WRITING! I am very excited to teach writing to my students this year in whole group and small group. I plan to start by going over the basics such as grammar, organizations, and sentence structure. After my students have a concrete understanding of that, I will move on to writing paragraphs. We will have conferences, publishing parties, mini lessons, and revising with peers.</title>

<title>In my classroom students are writing to explain their thinking or to answer specific questions using evidence to support their reasoning.</title>

<title>In my classroom, writing is very differentiated. Some students write independently, some trace, some choose pictures, to respond to the prompt/question. All students must respond, however; the difference just lies in the amount of prompting and accommodations. We strive for all students to write with accurate strokes, correct spacing, in the lines, and spelling at least phonetically. I like to challenge the students with writing, but am sometimes intimidated by how much (and in what way) I should challenge the students who are higher functioning.</title>

<title>We write in class many ways. we write in centers, math, reading and science. If you were to walk in you would see students working on starting sentence with capital letters, ending sentences with periods, and working on spacing between words out. We work on getting the children to start with and opening sentence adding three details about the topic and then a closing sentence to start to build a paragraph.</title>
