What Is Currently Being Done To Solve Problems:

In 1969 an agreement of the Organization of African Unity governed the rank of refugees living within Africa. This agreement states that countries are not allowed to forcibly repatriate refugees.

Currently, African countries depend on international aid to provide food and supplies to their refugee population. Most of the aid programs are supervised by the Organization of African Unity and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The UNHCR also extended its policy to make refugees self-sufficient and started promoting repatriation. However, these organizatons have not been able to achieve that goal of helping the refugees to better their current situations, since about 80% are unemployed, and bringing the population rate within camps down, because the global population has almost tripled within the last ten years.

All in all, we believe that the money should be put towards fixing the refugee camps in Africa for reasons including the lack of food and water in camps. These camps need the money because they offer safety but cannot even provide everyone within them with basic needs. If we had money to help these camps we would use it to provide them with the basic needs such as food and clean drinking water.

Overview of Refugee Camps

Refugees aren't living the way they want to in these camps, as shown in this article from the Boston Review: The Failure of Refugee Camps.

"Although they are not criminals, refugees are effectively incarcerated for an indefinite term. Cast into a permanently temporary state, in city-sized camps offering little hope of economic self-sufficiency, displaced people live in situations of imposed and institutionalized hopelessness."

However, with a bit more care, we can not only solve refugees' problems; we can also provide some respect for them by giving them a choice to stay or not and actually show some better passion for this subject matter.

Refugee Camps are the basis for help in Africa for basic needs of families and children. We need the money because of how many people have left their homes in order to find a safer place to live. Refugee Camps are what they need since it provides them a temporary place to live. Other topics like HIV/AIDS or Malaria are helped through refugee camps where camp specialists try to medicate the symptoms. They do so because of how they want the camp to be clean and hygienic.
