Text to self: As we know, Steve Harmon is really scared of jail, and he thinks he is innocent in his case. He wants to believe that he is a good person, but being in jail makes him realize that he is no different from the others. This kind of behavior reminds me of how most of the time, when I get into a fight with my friends or my sister, I will always assume that I am innocent on my side. I need to sometimes realize that I am also guilty with my own mistakes, which is what Steve Harmon needs to do in jail.

Steve Harmon is a sixteen year old boy on trial for murder. We learn that he is very scared of his jail surroundings, as he explains so in his journal entries and screenplay documents. Steve’s lawyer says that everyone already has an opinion about Steve’s case. This opinion is about Steve being guilty. He is considered to be “lucky” if he spends his time in jail for the rest of his life. Otherwise, he will be on death row. We know that what Steve must have done is so bad, hence the title of the book “Monster”.
