Anne, I am forever indebted to you for demonstrating what a truly excellent teacher looks like in action, and for guiding my initial teaching experiences as a terrified & clueless TA so many years ago! I will always think of you as my mentor and credit my teaching successes in large part to your support and guidance in those early days. Your door was always open for questions from TAs and PWIs, and even when you were pressed for time, you still made time for us. You helped me through some really challenging situations, always with patient encouragement, zero judgment, and smiling optimism. Thank you more than words can say for all you've done for me and this entire department. We love you--you're a Writing Program legend!!! Love&hugs--xo.Ivy

Anne, congratulations on your retirement! I will miss you! I can't belive I won't run into you walking the halls of HBC anymore. I remember when we first met TWENTY-TWO years ago! Can you believe we have known each other that long? I was a graduate student with a teaching fellowship, and you taught me and my peers how to teach. It's been a gift that you have continued to help me develop over the years as I transitioned from student to teacher here at Syracuse University. Even as recently as a few years ago, when you helped me develop the Writing in the Arts inquiry pilot, you continued to inspire me, teach me, and challenge me. Whenever you observed me throughout the years as a PWI, you supported me and encouraged me to grow. Your smile, positive energy, and sincere caring will be something I continue to model as a teacher. Wishing you all the best in your retirement!

Hi Anne...I remember all the way back to when I was a TA and the helpful books you and Margaret edited full of useful material for our writing classes. On top of that, you always had model assignments ready to share with fellow instructors. I truly learned so much about putting together a unit of material and creating invention activities and being confident as a teacher because of your profound direct and indirect influence. Thank you for this generosity. I am sure you will rock retirement as you did those rollerblades whenever I'd see you at the park!

Anne—Although we knew each other when I was a TA and a PWI back in the early 90’s, it wasn’t until I returned to Syracuse in 2008 that we became good friends. I can never thank you enough for your support since coming back to SU. You were always generous with your materials and time and there when I needed a cup of coffee, encouragement, and empathy. Your smiles and kidding will be incredibly missed. Thank you for all that you have contributed to this department. Your good work will reverberate through these halls for many years to come, Anne! Sending many good wishes to you and your family as you take this new path, whether it’s in roller blades, hiking boots, or an array of sports footwear!  Enjoy it all! XXOO Andrea
