    - Jung discusses trans-cultural hybridity is one of the most significant aspects of contemporary South Korean popular culture 
    - Boy groups are encompassing versatile masculinity through manufacturing their images via performances in which male groups often make parody of girl group dances and songs to produce 'soft masculinity.' This allows them to meet the complex desires of global mass consumers by not only employing soft masculinity, but hard masculinity in their own music where they perhaps appear shirtless or get in a fight (BTS RUN)
     - Soft masculinity is what KBS, NBC and SBS approve of more. And heavily censor groups for some of the most ridiculous reasons 
    For example: 
    - GD & TOP - Knock Out was banned because of the title which is slang for "obsessed" that usually has sexual connotation.

    -The track "Fun Boys" by BTS was banned from music stations due to a use of the Chinese phrase "chi fan le ma" for "did you eat" which sounds like a curse word in Korean.
    Reason for ban: Use of a Chinese term that "sounds" like a curse word- Watch it at: 2:35 - 2:40
    -Big Bang - We Like 2 Party was banned for the advertisement of foreign wine and wine consumption.

    Evidently more often than not, dances that are deemed 'too sexy' are always by girl groups. There is only the one instance of male group Cross Gene who were banned for too much crotch and hip thrusting. However the companies over sexualisation of females. In western society it is socially acceptable for idols to twerk or hip thrust, however in South Korea's more conservative society, these dance moves rarely see the stage. KBS, SBS and NBC are the censorship of the entertainment industry and remove anything from the spotlight that is overly sexual or emphasises various regions of a woman's body in dance. 
    Songs that involve "over sexualised" content are banned on broadcast but are still produced. The dance choreography is also modified for music shows. A lot of the time the sexualisation of a kpop group is without the consent of the members. Rather it is decided for them as per their contracts. Examples of this include but are not limited to, Stellar, Girls day, 4L and Hello Venus.

    -BTS' new album "Love yourself: Her" had four songs banned- "Go Go," "Pied Piper," "Billboard awards skit," and hidden track "Sea." The reasoning being that "According to KBS, the songs were banned for mentioning specific brands, use of slang, and vulgar language." http://www.koreaboo.com/news/4-bts-new-songs-banned-broadcast/

    Essentially songs are banned based on their offensiveness to the three broadcasting companies. The reasons vary from brand endorsement, inappropriate lyrics, over sexualisation and promoting drinking. Whilst some instances can be justified, majority of songs banned (such as almost half of BTS' songs and most of G-Dragons) surround weak reasoning such as slightly inappropriate language or allusions to brands mentioned briefly.
