You get to be part of the decision the future of your country. You get to decide the president and not just have to be OK with whoever is leading and what choices they make. That shows that the country accepts your decisions and trust that you will make the right the right decisions.
Another reason is that it shows that your choices matter too. No can say that you did the wrong thing, or that they don't like your decisions. However if more people pick the right person it will be likely that, that person will win. So back then when black people couldn't vote they couldn't pick the president that would support them that is a reason why segregation lasted so long. So that means that if you think that this president will be able to stop a war or something else and you can't vote chances are that other people that he needs to vote for him that are just like you can't vote and he will lose the election. In fact, I think it’s kind of rude when you don’t. I mean, so many activists in the past have worked so hard for African Americans and women’s right to vote. So At this point, it’s a privilege. You can’t take this for granted, our country is free, we have the right to vote for who we want to. In many other countries people are stuck with there dictator rather they like it or not. Even in The United States, at one point not everyone could vote. So people put so much effort, determination, and power for YEARS,  just so you can drop a ballet in a box every four years. It’s really easy to take that for granted, but we have to think about how once there was a time where that wasn’t normal. We have to think of people like Martin Luther King, he risked everything for his people and his race. We needEd to choose someone to stop segregation no matter what cost. African Americans where is able to do, they didn't have the chance to vote for someone that would bring everyone together. If only white people voted, choose someone that will support supervision. If that's what happened, we would be far away from everyone being equal. Show me people who put in jail, beaten, and even killed Toys R Us for the people. In the Constitution it says " we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal". Thomas Jefferson stated this horribly, it should have said that EVERYONE is created equal. Not just white men, but everyone. Voting is so important and it gives them the right to feel like their part of a community and not just there to be ridiculed or beat up it they also get to "choose" a leader that will lead them to war or anything else. There were a lot of prejudice back in the 1900s and some white people voted for leaders that shared the same feeling they felt about black people. So if America's president was racist it would mean trouble for African Americans. That person is going to be in the office with a lot of power so this is a big deal. So many African americans worked so hard to vote thousands and more way more worked so hard people got killed for protesting peacefully. The blacks protested and boycotted busses and marched. When they marched they got beaten and arrested by whites. In August  1963 Martin Luther king gave a speech. The speech was called ‘Free at Last’. 250,00 people went there. I think it was a tough decision for Kennedy because he did the right choice but he knew that it was going to bring hate.
