We do this as symbolism and as a reminder of how we were “born again.” 

The Baptists baptize immediately near the baptistery; the sooner the better. Today, however, would follow through with classes or courses and typically when they’re “ready,” they would baptize. 

Seems the time between being saved and the actual baptism is one of the biggest differences.

What is water baptism and why is it important? because the old you is left in the water and is left in the water, and when you raise up, the new you re-emerges. When you get saved, the old you is supposed to die and you are supposed to be new. Basically “out with the old, in with the new.”

What is baptism by fire? Being attacked by the enemy not by your own doing, and the only way out is God. You have to know it. It’s literally even more serious than your “normal” spiritual warfare. Fight fire with fire. Put on your armor and fight.
