-this group works with scientists and environmental specialists to get information out in a way that will attract attention

-the digital designer’s job is to make the information easy to understand and show the importance of helping

-digital designers should use their abilities to help society

· Brands are trying to grab attention and stand out more with vivid colors 

· Easy to read, bold fonts are taking center stage in more designs 

· The future is now, geometric shapes, futuristic color palettes, and abstract patterns are popping off 

· Tech companies using light and dark color schemes with designs in both light and dark palettes.

· Complex gradients and duo tones started popping up last year.

· Rise of new colorful minimalism, expecting to see more pops of color. 

· Custom and hand-drawn illustrations are standing out, they’re creative and original. 

· Stock photos that are too professional are dying down a bit, we’re now seeing more stock photos that look like they were taken from a personal phone.

·         Code Gradients have caught on in the past few years and is not slowing down in popularity

One thing that I saw was the current lack of diversity within the UK design industry remains a major society issue

When reading this article this sentence caught mt eye “Creating truly great designs is contingent on understanding the needs of customers, who are by nature diverse populations spanning socio-economic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations and disabilities.”

The article made a strong point in the UK 85% are male while only 13% of the wider design economy are from BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic).

Another thing that interest me a lot is people being scared that robots are taking over their jobs which has scared them because they don’t know what to do if robots do take their jobs.

 

 

·         One of the statistics that caught my eye in this article came at the beginning where the author said that in the UK 85% of the digital design sector are males and that only 13% are non-whites.

·         This is an issue for a sector that is supposed to be “forward thinking” and the lack of diversity in digital design creates a gap between minorities and the digital design sector.

·         The author made a great point about the advantages of diversity in the digital design sector, saying that more diversity will help the sector “better understand the needs of the customers” and come up with better, more innovative ideas that reach out to a greater audience.

·         This makes me believe that it is important to reach out to minorities about joining the digital design sector in order to maximize the abilities of the sector

·         The author talks about a program called Flipside that is attempting to address the lack of diversity in the sector by providing opportunities for kids who have talent but are generally not represented in the digital design industry.

·         In order to diversify the sector, it will be important to show young girls and kids of color about digital design and to get them interested in it from a young age.

·         3D design and Typography: 3D typography especially feels just about ready to pop. The best part about it is there’s no type that works best for this trend: bold, skinny, sans-serif, script, any font can be rendered in 3D.

·         Asymmetrical layouts: Because these layouts break free from the rigid and predictable grid, they deliver more kinetic energy and movement.

·         Art Deco: Embracing the complex line-work intense symmetry of the era’s best work, while combining it with sharp metallics.

·         Light and Delicate: With addition of premium materials like foil and embossing, these designs strike a balance between maximalism and simplicity.

·         Duotones and Gradients: Gradients— “color transitions,” as they are now sometimes called—have been a well-recognized trend for the past few years. Recently they’ve begun to creep back into logo design more heavily.

 

·         There can be appearances of amnesia among professionals, if that occurs the amateurs will be misguided and wont get the right information at the right time, causing things to be difficult.

 

 

·         There might be insufficiency in the profession too, with companies getting a skilled designer in one aspect but then having him do something else, leaving the skilled professionals out of the spotlight
