HR tech to digitise work certificates

The work certificate is a legal obligation of the employer in Switzerland (Art. 330a CO) but is mostly synonymous with frustration, loss of time and energy. Each year, on average, a company issues certificates to 20% of its employees. However, if used wisely, this Swiss specificity can be a guarantee of recognition and even prove itself decisive at pivotal stages of a career.

On the basis of these observations, two entrepreneurs from French-speaking Switzerland founded MyCerty in 2020, a digital platform that automates the production of the Swiss work certificate, while placing the employee and his or her career path at the heart of the process. Thanks to this innovative solution, the time required to create a work certificate is reduced by 75% and, above all, the process is fairly distributed between the employee, the manager and the HR department, for an efficient, fair and transparent construction, in line with current best practices.

 

Switzerland lagging behind in HR Tech

In a context where Human Resources are increasingly under operational efficiency pressure and must accompany companies through unprecedented transformations, digital tools are becoming more and more critical to allow their teams to free themselves from activities with lower added value. However, Switzerland still has few start-ups and solutions that support the performance and optimisation of HR function KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). "By creating MyCerty, we wanted to enable HR and managers to devote more time to people and value creation rather than purely administrative processes. It is also an opportunity to prove that French-speaking Switzerland can be a cradle of HR innovation", says Brice Rattez, co-founder of the start-up and HR director at a multinational company, which has written more than 5,000 work certificates to its credit.

The work certificate concerns all companies, but presents implies challenges depending on their structure. Smaller companies often do not have a dedicated HR function and can feel lost in a very open legal framework that is subject to interpretation.
