The territory formerly occupied by these peoples were later taken and controlled

by the Spanish who came to America looking for new land/products to explore.

These Spanish missions worked in a very similar way to the Portuguese mission in Brazil.

Central and South America were found and occupied by these two European countries and had their

people and products explored and taken to Europe (American products were very valuable in Europe)

The Spanish main source of profit was the silver they found mainly in Peru. The biggest silver mines in the world are located in this area, such as San Potosi and Penasquito. Nowadays, Mexico is still responsible for the biggest provision of silver in the world.

Later on, people will manage to become independent from Spain - exactly like Brazil managed to become independent from Portugal. That process was different for each region and several countries were formed after that.
