¨Nature says, -- he is my creature, and maugre Definition all his impertinent griefs, he shall be glad with me. Not the sun or the summer alone, but every hour and season yields its tribute of delight; for every hour and change corresponds to and authorizes a different state of the mind, from breathless noon to grimmest midnight. Nature is a setting that fits equally well a comic or a mourning piece. In good health, the air is a cordial of incredible virtue. ¨

¨The production of a work of art throws a light upon the mystery of humanity. A work of art is an abstract or epitome of the world. It is the result or expression of nature, in miniature. For, although the works of nature are innumerable and all different, the result or the expression of them all is similar and single. Nature is a sea of forms radically alike and even unique. A leaf, a sun-beam, a landscape, the ocean, make an analogous impression on the mind.¨

Accept the place the divine providence has found for you, the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events.

(Poem) We the mice! We all struggle for the same cheese. Ones one is taken a new one is placed with a different taste. We all hope to obtain the cheese and leave this labyrinth, but only few is taken at a time. As they leave they look down upon the rest, which motivates some to try harder. Yet I am tired of this race. Sometimes I pick up the pace only to be beaten again. One day we say, we will be one of those mice. Yet years have past and we are unsure if we will make it. Some mice give up and lay themselves to rest. Yet one mouse decides to climb over the labyrinth.

That mouse is ridiculed by his friends and family, yet he pays no mind to them. Once he climbs over the wall he realizes that those who have succeeded in obtaining the cheese have merely been placed in another labyrinth with a different kind of cheese. The mouse climbs up to the window and sees a beautiful forest. He urges the rest of the mice to follow, but only three listen to him. He speaks to them and convinces them to flee with him. They jump out the window and find other mice who dared to change. While there they introduce to us all kinds of cheese every shape and color and the mouse´s new friends told him to claim the spoils for himself. But eh mouse rejected the cheese and said this is for we the mice!. We the mice, who dared to do the impossible. We the mice who did what other thought to be insane! We the mice who thought differently that the other mice! This is for we the mice!

People give up their lives in order to become they they believe to be successful. In my poem this is represented by the mice attempting to get to the cheese which represents both careers and money. This is portrayed as a constant neverending cycle. While the other mice and their escape represent the transcendentalist belief of becoming both self reliant and an independent thinker who break out of society's shackles. This allows them to find the greatest cheese which is happiness.
