There is a chapter that talks about “Physical Development in Adolescents. "This chapter mentions the body image issues these days that affect teenagers, and it even talks about pregnancy.

Negative body image in children and teens increases the risk of depression, eating disorders, low self-esteem, and many other things.

Teenagers are getting increasingly depressed by how they look.

Boys and girls spend hours at the gym because they want themselves to be thin and have muscles.

This chapter even mentioned social media and how it affects teenagers and their behaviors. They start being unsure about themselves and their bodies, thinking that the pictures of other girls on social media are prettier than hers, and start to compare themselves to other people. This even affects boys too; they start ignoring their studies, sitting with their parents, and prefer going to the gym to have perfect shape of themselves.

But parents can help their child develop a positive body image; they can communicate with them. Be a good role model, speak positively, and avoid saying negative things about others. Encourage exercise, eat well, and discuss the impacts of puberty on your child.

In chapter 9, which talks about “Cognitive, Social, and Emotional Development in Adolescents,” the best information that I liked was social development. This talks about the friendship that teenagers have; there is a good crowd that makes your children creative and makes them happy. And there is a bad crowd who talks about dangerous things, and sometimes they do things they do not want just to show their friends how cool they are, and this led them to teach them how to use drugs and drink alcohol.

I like this stage because we are living it these days, lots of parents struggling with their teenage years because of their choices.
