    The structure of the text impacts the meaning of the novel because it helps the reader aid in understanding the insights of the minds of the slaves. It developed a deeper understanding from seeing the different perspectives.  

    Time and Space

    1. How important is cultural or historical context to the production and reception of a literary text? Consider the story of Margaret Garner, the Fugitive Slave Act, and other historical and cultural phenomena and how that has impacted the creation and reception of Beloved.

    Cultural and historical context is incredibly important as it allows the reader to be able to understand the novel as a whole in such a deeper level. Without it, they would not be able to understand what is truly going on, which leads to a lack of a developed analysis.

    I would say that it is still literary as the author still used a variety of techniques, even though they were in terms of graphic novels, to develop her main messages about Iranian Life.

    What insight did Persepolis give you into Iranian life during and after the revolution

    It gave me insight on the harsh oppression that mainly women had to face. They were derived of so many of their freedoms and they had to either fight to develop those freedoms or stay silent.     We are affected because we are exposed to the harsh reality of the concentration camps that we do not have any personal experience with. Seeing these first hand accounts developed my perception of how grateful I am to have the life that I have now.

I would discuss how much Marjane was unable to express herself freely because she was forced to appear a certain way and I would talk about how in 1984 there is a certain expectation about appearances and behaviors. I as well would talk about for both works about the inability to rebel, and how loyalty is prioritized over what the citizens truly want.
