I had a pretty typical childhood! I was born February 18th, 2002. My parents divorced when I was about 3 years old so this was not new to me growing up and I was well adjusted to the split time. It wasn't until I moved schools in 2012 that things got a little hard for me.

I had a rought time in middle school, making friends and finding my groove. Around this time my father moved away to Florida and we were very close so this impacted me a lot, but I did meet my best friend Jordan who I am still close with to this day! She was the first person outside my family who had really impacted my life on a big level. We talked a lot about our futures and goals which was super inspiring and motivating to me at such a young age.

Through high school, I had really struggled with some mental health issues like anxiety and depression, I started seeing a therapist, Kelly, who has worked with me for almost 10 years now! she really opened my eyes to the world of mental health care and the kind of impact it could make on people, especially adolescents that are the age I was when I first started to see her. During this time one of my closest friends passed away from suicide, this was when I started to take mental health seriously and commit my life and future to learning about it and helping others.

I graduated from high school and moved to South Florida to pursue my Bachelors degree in Psychology. My first two years of college were quite the culture shock living in FL vs STL where I grew up, but I met so many people and professors that helped me learn about being cultured and communicating with people who come from other places than me. I was able to really find myself as a person and learn about the kind of professional I wanted to be.

For the last two years of college I moved to Charlotte, NC to finish my degree at UNCC. It was the best decision I have ever made! I met a Psychology professor, Dr. Burke, who was able to be a great mentor and help me find out what I would want to do after graduating and helped me realize that mental health counseling is my true passion. I started taking the steps I needed to take to qualify for a graduate program, and applying, and shortly after I graduated I moved back home here to STL where I am able to work at a preschool full time while I continue to see my therapist Kelly from high school and study MHC at Bradley University!
