This year seemed to go really fast. Amanda was at a different school site than her candidates and felt that was more of a challenge. Bridgette shared that one of the classes she was supporting as the special education teacher has not had a teacher for the past four months so that has been consuming most of her time, and made things difficult.

Can we begin the Induction year earlier? It seemed like it was several months before we officially started.

1st year mentors struggled on how to do Induction.

Walnut has a PD day where mentors go to a nearby elementary school and watched a teacher give a lesson and then discussed after how to write up an observation.

Maybe have a mentor training date before we start to help new mentors navigate the Mentor Google Classroom. I trained two new mentors and explained how to setup shared drives, gave suggestions how to organize materials, explained how to use the tools, guided them in what to discuss with their candidates, etc.

It was honestly a challenging year time wise! It felt like we were always working around things that came up and shortages on time. Both my candidates and I are heavily involved in campus activities, but we made it work. It helps to enjoy the people you are working with.

My year went okay. My mentee is so positive and great to be around, but I took on all the ELD at my school, with 6 periods of classes. Needless to say, I was having a little trouble juggling, but the mentor part of it was gratifying.

My candidate says she’s wanted this job all her life - this is her dream job and it was just so wonderful to be around that positivity. I guess it was also a reminder to myself to be more positive!

I never used GoReact because it did not work for me. The mentor google classroom and the candidate google classroom (even between 1st years and 2nd years) were all different which made it hard to track. Clarity, especially in the beginning of the year because it felt really rushed and very overwhelming to understand all the expectations of this induction program. Timeliness of uploading, and efficiency in our meetings would be greatly appreciated.

The year was extremely busy with WASC, AP and 2 mentees. We got through and I feel like my guys have grown throughout the year!
