The students will each have a bag of candy corn. The students will, individually, pick out the number of candy corns that match the number on the board. they will write the number down on a dry erase board. When the students have their candy corns picked out, they will hold up their board. After a period of 90 seconds has passed, or everyone has their board held up, the students, as a class, will say the number out loud. The teacher will then draw the representative number of candy corns on the board so the students can check their answers.
http://lifeovercs.com/free-printable-candy-corn-counting-cards/

Pete travels from England to America on the ship, meets the Indians, and takes part in the first Thanksgiving. This book could be used as an anticipatory set when introducing the topic of Thanksgiving and fall traditions. This would also be a fun way to conclude the Thanksgiving research activity.
