Robinson Joined the MLB when Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson signed a deal, setting up Rickey's Great experiment.

The 2 tenets of democracy that associate with this story are: Liberty and Equality.

When Robinson signed the contract to join the MLB, he took a big step towards equality for all. He showed that his skin may be a different color, but he is just like you and I.

At this time in America, Black Americans did not have the liberty to do many things. They could go to the same bathrooms, they could not eat at the same restaurants, they could not go to the same schools. And before Robinson, Blacks could not play in Major League Baseball. He changed all that.
