Identifying as a cisgender has often been assumed to be the preferable way of being throughout society but there never should be; your life is your life, live it the way you want to and not based on societies expectations. Growing up, the little time that my dad was around, he was very firm on the fact that we needed to identify as a Heterosexual because that is what "God" intended it to be, however, my cultural upbringing did not influence my decision but rather my experiences and encounters with both sexes did. There seems to be a constant norm and expectation that society pushes onto females when it comes to their responsibilities and interests. I love to play and watch sports, I grew up playing and watching soccer as I come from a Spaniard background and I also just recently enjoyed watching and playing Football (thanks to boyfriend). I feel it has a lot to do with my upbringing from my mother & grandmother. Through their continued support and love, they raised both my brother and I for most of our life as my father was not much in the picture. They have made me proud to be a strong, independent female and have taught me that you can achieve all things you put your mind to, with or without a partner by your side. I was always called a "toothpick" growing up as I was tall but very skinny. I was very active from the age of five so I always appeared to be skinny with not much weight on my body. I was constantly trying to gain weight and often found (still do) myself comparing to others around me/on media. I always thought that I was not good enough, endorsing the "thin ideal internalization". I eventually decided to change my habits and started eating more than I usually did and even started going to the gym and lifting weights.
