Due to the quarantine announced in the country, part of the group's children spend time at home with their parents and do not attend kindergarten. Therefore, I invited parents to create and construct feeders from secondary raw materials together with their children at home, to hang their feeders next to their homes, and to share the video material with their teacher and friends.

In Catalonia, we have a mild winter.

At this moment in Romania all kindergartens are closed and the activities are carried out online. Our group conducts online activities using the Google Meet application and the Google Classroom platform. This week we talked about birds and how they survive the winter season. The activity took place on google meet, where the children expressed their opinions on how we can help the birds in winter. At the end of the activity, the children watched on the explore.org website a real-time movie with a bird and how it takes care of the eggs in its nest. The site shows us real-time footage of various animals located in various parts of the world. Throughout this week, the children observed the bird and its behavior with their parents, and at each meeting we discussed what happened every day.

In Romania schools are closed, so we carry out are classes online, and the children learn from home. They were more than happy to join this activity. They understood that birds find food with more difficulty during winter, so they gladly made birdfeeders using recyclable materials. Then they observed to see if the birds came to eat from the birdfeeders.

When it is very cold outside, it means that you need to rescue your friends birds, because when it gets cold and the snow falls, it becomes difficult for the birds to find food. We made a feeder and ran to the yard. Finally we got babies .... Birds, return to the same feeding places, so it will be our duty to go through the whole "route" of feeders every few days and supplement the feeders with food.

We talked to the children about the importance of taking care of the small birds left in Lithuania for the winter. We discussed how we could feed them, how we could make feeders. On the trees in the kindergarten we hung the "tubers" brought by the parents for feeding the birds, which were made from various groats and seeds. Others shared photos of how they made and decorated the feeder from various boxes, paper rolls already used. It is very important to take care of our little friends.

I'm an English teacher and a scouts leader. As a scout, we do need to look after animals in the nature. We leave breadcrumbs everywhere in our school. Also some students do the same at home on their balconies. Though the mothers are not very happy about it:)

Our students are always aware of the other beings on the earth. Especially in winter, we put seeds and fresh water around the school. This year we do tha same in our gardens due to the pandemic. In our neighbourhood, There are also lots of cats. So the survival is twice difficult for them. Therefore , it is difficult to build a safe feeder for them. As this is the region of handmade potteries, we use the old or the broken ones as the feeders and put them in the highest point of the trees.

We do not have very cold winter, though we put some shelters to birds with seeds and fat. However, they are not really interested because they find grain and worms elsewhere :)

We decided to make our own feeders from secondary materials (5 l. Plastic bottles). We color our feeders, next we glued a pack of pine cones. We fill the hung feeders with various grains and groats.

It is very cold, it has been snowing for a few days.But I knew, we were expecting something like that.So I prepared in advance shelters for sparrows and other tiny birds of the sky, each as I could.The children used recyclable materials to make shelters and places to feed birds.Those who live at home, but also those who live in blocks of flats, used cardboard from which they made birdhouses and plastic bottles to put grains of birds, all of which were placed in the trees at the birds' disposal.
