• We think the people had the most important role.
  They organized protests, supported each other, and kept the memory of the victims alive. Without the people, the cases would have been forgotten, since the media and authorities often failed to act.

These both stories are similar because in these stories we get to see how the government lacks action. 

Also both stories relate because they are both sad stories related to the grief they are experiencing and wanting to look for justice for their lost ones. And how people look for justice and want them to feel heard.

During the conference, Mrs Lety Hidalgo spoke about the importance of community involvement through volunteering. Volunteers play a key role in supporting their efforts to search for missing persons. Campaigning is also a big part of what they do, as they organize awareness campaigns to inform and engage the public. These campaigns aim to raise awareness, educate people about the issue, and inspire change in the future.

Mrs. Lety Hidalgo helped bring positive change by speaking out after her son disappeared. She helped other families, formed a support group, and pushed the government to do more to find missing people. Her actions showed how one person can make a difference and inspired others to care and get involved.

Reflection: Social media can sometimes help or interrupt and make harder the objective of FUNDENL which in this case is to get justice for the ones dissapeared, social media in the positive side has helped for not letting cases go away fast, this means that the cases are on social media and people can read them to be aware of the current situation and also helps to put a bigger pression for the authorities to do something. Sometimes, social media can make things worse because people can blame the victims or their families without proof and can also hide or change information to protect others. This makes it harder to find justice and makes people lose trust. Civic participation is a strong tool to help communities stay strong, its nice that mothers and families form groups to motivate themsleves to keep going and to support each other. Protests keep the problem going on and make authorities do something. Working together and giving strenght each day for not giving up is what keeps them inspired to get up each day and have the energy to keep looking for justice and dissapeared ones.

El pasado 13 de abril, Karina Ruiz fue privada de la libertad. Se trata de una activista que buscaba solución al problema de agua que sufren en su fraccionamiento, ubicado en El Arenal

Privan de la libertad a activista tras buscar una solución para el problema de agua en su fraccionamiento, ubicado en la colonia La Cima, en El Arenal. El hecho ocurrió el 13 de abril, cuando sujetos ingresaron a su domicilio a la fuerza y la sacaron de su hogar en contra de su voluntad.

Lo que nos están haciendo no es justo, ´poco a poco van llegando los vecinos. ¡Queremos agua! ¡Queremos agua! ¡Queremos agua!

Karina Ruiz desapareció tras exigir agua

La mañana del domingo 23 de marzo, vecinos de la colonia La Cima, del municipio de El Arenal, levantaron la voz exigiendo agua para sus casas. Ese día bloquearon la carretera en el ingreso al municipio.

Este caos se va a intensificar y la verdad lamentamos, a los automovilistas, una disculpa, para aquellos que ahorita se están viendo afectados, ¿sí? pero ya estuvo bueno

Tres semanas después ingresaron sujetos a su hogar para privarla de la libertad

Tres semanas después, el domingo 13 de abril, sujetos ingresaron a la fuerza al domicilio de la representante legal de la asociación civil "La Cima, Nuestra Prioridad" y se la llevaron.

En redes sociales circulan audios donde ella señaló que ya había sido amenazada, por lo que había considerado dejar el activismo en defensa del acceso al agua.

Cualquier tipo de accidente, entre comillas, que me pueda pasar, yo los hago responsables, ya me dirigiré yo a las autoridades competentes, para que se inicie una investigación, yo ya me quiero quedar fuera de todo este asunto del agua.

En diciembre de 2022, la Comisión Federal de Electricidad cortó el suministro eléctrico en el pozo que abastecía al fraccionamiento La Cima, por una millonaria deuda de la constructora. Desde entonces, con un generador se les proporciona agua, pero solo por unas horas al día.

Aunque las exigencias del fraccionamiento La Cima, de El Arenal, llegaron al Congreso y a la Comisión Estatal de Derechos Humanos, no hubo eco y hoy, quien exigía una solución, está desaparecida.

El 13 de abril, unos hombres entraron a su casa en El Arenal, Jalisco, y se la llevaron a la fuerza. Desde entonces, no se sabe nada de ella.

Karina es una activista que luchaba para que su fraccionamiento (La Cima) tuviera agua todos los días. Desde hace más de un año, las familias solo tienen agua por unas horas al día, porque la luz del pozo fue cortada por una deuda de la constructora.

Karina organizó marchas y habló en público para exigir soluciones. Incluso dijo en redes que había recibido amenazas y que tenía miedo.

Aunque los vecinos pidieron ayuda al gobierno y a los derechos humanos, no hubo respuesta. Hoy, la persona que alzó la voz está desaparecida.

Su familia y vecinos piden que no se quede en el olvido.
