This chunk was more a window than a mirror I do not relate with this chunk of the book. I found it shocking/crazy when Jeannette was trying to cook hot dogs at the age of three and got burned. Her parents are more of hands off.

Social class was one issue in The Glass Castle. Jeannette was born in a lower class. They moved from place to place and there were times that they would be homeless. Jeannette would say that sometimes they wouldn't have food to eat, when she got burned while trying to cook hot dogs she said she would be happy if she stayed at the hospital so she wouldn't have to worry about running out of food. She would also be limited to basic necessities.

When they moved to Midland Jeannette mom would paint lots of Joshua trees, Jeannette found a Joshua tree sapling she wanted to dig it up and plant it near their house so she can care for it so it could grow nice and tall and strait but her mom said,"You'd be destroying what makes it special, she said It's the Joshua tree's struggle that gives it its beauty¨ (Walls 38). This quote stood out to me because the struggles you go through make you unique.

Some repeated words in The Glass Castle were "glass castle". The effect of that pattern is the hope and dreams that Jeannette ´ s family has.
A significant event that happened in The Glass Castle was when Jeannette was trying to cook hot dogs and she burned herself. I think that the author's purpose of telling that part of the story was because she wanted to show that she was independent.
Some figures of speech that were used were similes and metaphors.

I think that if a younger audience might interpret the book differently than an older audience because the younger audience might see the way they grew up fun. But an older audience might see the way they grew up dangerous.
The book holds a little bit of the same opinions of the world as me. What I consider wrong is that the parents are hands off and they don ´ t really care about the kids' well-being.
I think The Glass Castle indented audience are teens and adults.

They were in the Hot Pot and Rex wanted to teach Jeannette to swim so he told her, " If you don ´ t want to sink you better figure out how to swim ¨(Walls 66). This quote stood out to me because I think it means that if you don ´ t want to follow with everyone else then create your own path.

Education was an issue in The Glass Castle because since they would move a lot, they would also have to move to different schools a lot. So they wouldn't get a proper education. Her parents believed in education but not going to school. They believed they could get an education by real life experiences. I think if Jeannette's parents would have been more educated then they would have made better choices.

This chunk of the book was a window. I don ´ t relate with constantly having to move a lot and having to move schools. I was shocked at how billy was acting toward Jeannette.

Jeannette and her family are in the lower class because they move from one place to another, they are limited to basic necessities, and don ´ t have anything to eat sometimes. The characters are aware of the economic and social forces that affect their lives because Jeannette and her siblings see how their parents struggle to get jobs. The Mom also got job as a teacher because they needed money.

They arrived in Muskogee with the window to the car taped with garbage bags, there were a bunch of people surrounding there car there were kids and adults grinning and shaking there head and Rose Mary told Jeannette,¨ Life is a drama full of tragedy and comedy, Mom told me. You should learn to enjoy the comic episodes a little more"(Walls 129). This stood out to me because it resembles one's life and I think it is trying to say to enjoy the good memories more.

In The Glass Castle Health is an issue. When they Moved to West Virginia in Welch they decided to tour around the town and they came across a river that had feces because the town didn´t have a sewer system. Later on they bought a house but the house is in bad condition. They had a toilet that sat on a hole because the toilet wasn´t connected to any sewer. They had no running water so they got water from a water spigot right next to the toilet. The kitchen was not wired correctly and Jeannette got electrocuted.

This chunk of the book was also a window. I feel bad because of what Brain went through. I think the house they moved to is not safe especially because they get their water from a water spigot right next to the toilet that is not connected to a sewer.

In The Glass Castle some forces that motivate the characters are their desires, personal goals, and beliefs. Some forces that motivate Jeannette are that she wants to move and leave her past behind because she wants a better life for herself. Another thing that motivated her is that her siblings all support each other in getting a better life.

When they lived at 93 little Hobart street they had a garbage pit and Jeannette told her mom that they can ´ t keep dumping trash in the pit because what were people going to think. Then Rose Mary said ¨ Life's too short to worry about what other people think, Anyway they should accept us for who we are ¨(Walls 157). This quote stood out to me because I think it's trying to say that you shouldn´ t care about what people think and that you should just believe in yourself.

I think that people share their stories because they can express themselves when they share their stories. People might also share their stories so they can connect with other people. Some people might be able to relate to their stories so they feel heard or understood and they might be inspired and maybe they can share their story as well. I think that people also share their stories so they can spread awareness of a situation.
