MillieChe https://padlet.com/MillieChe/Hamilton123/wish/1347928183 A motif is a reoccurring theme, idea or musical phrase in a performance.  In Hamilton many of these happen throughout the production .​
An example of a  recurring motif which was explored a lot throughout the video was “wait for it” which appears numerous times throughout the show and its woven into other songs done by the ensemble as well. What I found interesting was the song Hurricane and how “wait for it” was included in the song. Halfway through the song Hurricane H sings “write my way out” whilst the ensemble sings “wait for it” which represents the voices going through H head and Burr’s advice going through H subconsciousness which he decided not to follow because he knows how hypocritical it would be to listen to Burr. ​

He was willing to do anything as long as it made him look good/ meant something to him.  The idea of history having its eyes on you haunts many of the characters as Hamilton was willing to even ruin his reputation in order for him to rewrite the history books and have his last chance to have "his shot" at making a name and legacy for himself. 

war and conflict- Hamilton is set in the American revolution. Hamilton believes that war will help prove the countries independence but also his reputation and to help him stand out in history. In the performance Hamilton and Burr are constantly at war with each other as they are both wanting to rule the country and Burr gets tired of Hamilton's lies and secrets which causes an uproar between the two. 

Time- Hamilton is in constant fear that he doesn't have enough time and that his time is running out and going to quick for him to create a legacy.

In Hamilton everyone wears a mic- even the people who don't have a line including all the instruments in the band so the sound director has full control of the musical.

Hamilton is the hardest show he has ever done as he only wants one mic turned on at a time of stage so he has to go back and fourth quickly.

All the echoing effect are done live on stage which is very are in musicals and typically they are prerecorded. 

Burr and Hamilton wear two microphones just incase one breaks and they have a replacements immediately.

when Lin was at this concert he got a piece of advise from John Wideman  to not focus on the entire book but just pic out the parts that wuld look good in a musical.

They also reference their use of venn diagrams to show the type of bond that they each have as directors and very much appreciate that each of them has different ideas and different interpretations.
